), this guitar is the closest one can come to holding the Woody Guthrie legacy in his or her hand. Tailored from wood carefully extricated from Guthrie’s home, this is the actual wood that created the home where Guthrie began his journey into becoming the man we all know and love... and a man who defines the spirit of the American artist.
The acclaimed luthiers of Gibson's Montana facility have crafted fingerboards and bridges from the very joists of Woody's childhood home, adding them to the foundation of solid AA-Sitka spruce top and solid Honduran mahogany back and sides that together blend tonal sweetness and outstanding projection, characteristics which have made the Southern Jumbo the premier choice with solo folk singers and contemporary singer-songwriters alike. Add a luscious Vintage Sunburst finish in hand-sprayed nitrocellulose with multi-ply soundhole rosette and period-correct "firestripe" pickguard, a solid mahogany neck with vintage "V" profile, characteristic split-parallelogram fingerboard inlays, and a traditional "banner" headstock decal, the Woody Guthrie London House Model Southern Jumbo is entirely evocative of a golden age in American music.
