Description
Up for sale is a Somewhat Rare Vintage Carved Top Guitar, Very Good Overall Condition As Shown, Please see photos for details, Plays & sounds great, Neck is straight, I have not been able to find any definitive information on the maker and or background of this fine vintage guitar, Speculation due to serial number configuration suggests that it was possibly made by Harmony in the early 1950's although Armstrong carved top/archtop guitars date back into the 1930's, Shows all the time honored markings associated and to be expected with a played vintage instrument such as nicks-scuffs-bumps & bruises, A crack on the back has been repaired internally along with a minor hairline crack, There were terrible modern gold tone tuners that have been replaced with period correct Grover Sta-Tite tuners, The previous tuners were made in Japan having Japan embossed on them which have made an imprint into the headstock under the current tuners, Had to mention that in case the new owner removed the tuners and saw Japan pressed into the wood, Looks to be a mixture of old possibly original parts and new parts, Beautiful Mother Of Pearl split-block fret markers with the 15th marker missing a very tiny piece at one tip/point, This guitar has the lowest action out of any vintage/antique archtop I have ever played, I tried a set of D'Addario XL half rounds strings which are a bit too bright for me but that's what's on here, There is plenty of room for adjustments to set up this guitar however the new owner may want to which have no bearing on this sale as it plays just fine for me, Measures approx 16 1/4" across the lower bout and 11 1/2" upper bout, No case, Fantastic Uncommon Guitar!
